You will lead a staff of three to four in a wide variety of activities, including corporate communications, advertising, trade shows, and employee newsletters, You will also manage extensive internal and external training programs. You'll also need a solid work ethic and a willingness to take a hands-on approach in a lean organization. While about 60 employees will move with us, we'll hire about 130 new ones here. We'll ask you to spend some time in New Jersey as possible between now and the time the LA office goes online in order to learn about our products, culture, and processes. We are sensitive to your family responsibilities and other obligations, and we'll work with you to create an individual bi-coastal schedule that will suit our objectives as well as yours. Reporting to our Vice President of Marketing, you will join a team that also includes a Business Planning Manager, Assistant Marketing Manager, and Marketing and Pricing Analyst. One of your first objectives will be to build a communications and training staff of three to four.
You will invest the largest portion of your time in corporate communications. In addition to managing the our significant commitment to TV and print media advertising, you will be responsible for our marketing collateral including product catalogs, brochures etc. as well as press releases, monthly and quarterly in-house newsletters. You will also coordinate with our PR agency and develop communications for distributors and other constituencies. We'll also look to you to bring some fresh ideas for getting our message to our audiences.
In addition, you will oversee external and internal training programs. External programs are targeted to distributors, contractors, and engineers, and tend to be whole-day regional events held at one of our factories. Typically we bring in outside resources to present specific technical training, and attendees earn continuing education credits. Internal training is designed to provide sales and customer service professionals with enhanced product knowledge, and is presented in traditional corporate training settings.
You'll spend time strategizing at high levels and also get your hands into the nitty gritty details. In some cases you may focus on developing quick fixes and workarounds to keep operations moving forward, while finalizing long-term solutions, processes, and strategies in the background.
You can expect to travel up to 15% of the time, to trade shows, sales conferences, some trainings, and to meet with distributors.
