Supervising two direct reports and indirectly collaborating with shipping personnel throughout 22 plants nationwide, you will assume leadership of our West Coast shipping operation that handles around 30 loads per day per plant. With so many plants nationwide, there is plenty of room for improvement and you'll focus on significantly driving down traffic control costs as you efficiently implement best practices to push our logistics, inventory and traffic management function to the next level. Pivotal to your success is your ability to solve challenging problems in a fast-paced production environment while leveraging your interpersonal savvy to deal with cross-functional groups and diverse personalities throughout the organization.

What Else You'll Bring to the Table

• Minimum 5+ years experience in logistics, traffic and scheduling management in a manufacturing environment.
• Freight carrier interaction and negotiation experience.
• Strong analytical, cost analysis and problem solving skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
• Impeccable communication skills to interact with diverse stakeholders, both within and outside the organization.
• Strong multi-tasking capabilities with the ability to work well under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
• The ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• A willingness and physical ability to participate hands-on in shipping activities.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft office suite and CRM software.
• Ability to travel (about 10%) to visit nationwide plants.
• Knowledge of AS400 is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree is preferred.

More About Your Role

Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, you'll be based out of our Los Angeles office (we have purchased a 10-story building near LAX, close to the 405 & 105 to make commuting a cinch). As you come on board, you'll attend a 3-week comprehensive training session at our New Jersey office and possibly visit other plants for additional training. During the first year, you'll focus on accomplishing the following objectives:

• Reduce traffic control costs by 80%.
• Proactively drive improvements and devise a system to get trucks in and out of plants more efficiently.

In a nutshell, you'll spend about 80% of your time working with trucking companies and inside sales as you monitor and control inventory at various locations. You'll also understand freight barriers and cost ramifications and provide optimal decision-making support. The remaining 20% of your time will be focused on driving improvements. In general, your activities are to:

• Schedule timely and cost efficient domestic and international shipments including Truck Load, LTL, (Multiple stop) and common carriers.
• Coordinate shipping schedule extensively with manufacturing, shipping, sales / coordinators and installation.
• Oversee loading and provide direction on the correct staging and loading sequence and procedures.
• Manage all freight carriers.
• Provide integrated Customer and Logistics services throughout the order fulfillment process, coordinating logistics with major suppliers, manufacturing managers and the supply chain group.
• Manage and utilize master data in CRM system (Customer Relations Management systems).
• Develop and improve systems for processing and tracking logistics activities, to include distribution points
• Manage daily activity to track location and movement of inventory, imports, exports, truck and container shipments of finished goods; provide reports to internal and external customers as required.
• Ensure compliance with all state, federal, environmental, safety, and hazardous waste regulations.
