Opportunity Snapshot

Put on your air traffic controller "hat" to expertly plan and coordinate all freight carriers and optimize traffic management as you drive continuous improvement at the world's largest manufacturer of plastic pipe.

The company collectively known as JM Eagle was recently formed through the merger of JM Manufacturing and PW Eagle; this union represents the "best of the best" of two industry leaders and we're uniquely positioned to offer our customers the greatest breadth of product, the broadest geographic reach, the most cost effective production operations, the highest capacity, and the most comprehensive field sales support team in the industry. We're expanding our diverse recession resilient product portfolio with the addition of PE corrugated, and have managed to continue our aggressive growth in spite of the recent economic downturn.

Supervising two direct reports and indirectly collaborating with shipping personnel throughout 22 plants nationwide, you will assume leadership of our West Coast shipping operation that handles around 30 loads per day per plant. With so many plants nationwide, there is plenty of room for improvement and you'll focus on significantly driving down traffic control costs as you efficiently implement best practices to push our logistics, inventory and traffic management function to the next level. Pivotal to your success is your ability to solve challenging problems in a fast-paced production environment while leveraging your interpersonal savvy to deal with cross-functional groups and diverse personalities throughout the organization.

What's in It for You

More About Your Role

Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, you'll be based out of our Los Angeles office (we have purchased a 10-story building near LAX, close to the 405 & 105 to make commuting a cinch). As you come on board, you'll attend a 3-week comprehensive training session at our New Jersey office and possibly visit other plants for additional training. During the first year, you'll focus on accomplishing the following objectives: In a nutshell, you'll spend about 80% of your time working with trucking companies and inside sales as you monitor and control inventory at various locations. You'll also understand freight barriers and cost ramifications and provide optimal decision-making support. The remaining 20% of your time will be focused on driving improvements. In general, your activities are to:

Keys to Success

To excel in this role you will bring a motivational and straightforward style of leadership -- a heavy-handed approach will not work in our culture. You will need to take the time to get to know your people, establish your credibility, and develop open lines of communication. Of course, as in any high volume traffic environment, you'll realize the need to effectively multitask and "turn on a dime" as new priorities emerge. You will also be prepared to "wear many hats" and zoom in to pay attention to day-to-day details but also understand the big picture and how your role fits in with our overall strategic objectives.

If this sounds like the right mix of challenge and opportunity for you, and you meet the minimum qualifications, we want to hear from you!
