SUMMARY
The public relations coordinator will conduct public relations campaigns directed toward trade media, including writing press releases, identifying editorial opportunities, creating and pitching story ideas, and developing relationships with editors and producers.The coordinator will also produce newsletters to internal and external audiences, as well as assist in writing and editing technical collateral and Web site copy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Media RelationsoExamine editorial calendars of trade publications to identify media opportunities.oDevelop story ideas.oPitch stories to editors and producers.oMaintain media list.oWrite press releases.oDevelop and maintain media kit.
Assist marketing vice president and marketing communications manager in directing media events, including press conferences and interviews.
Customer Newsletter
Connect with all JM Eagle departments to gain company news that will be of interest to customers.
Write and edit newsletter.
Liaise with designer.
Circulate drafts for internal review.
Coordinate with proper department to ensure up-to-date mailing list and oversee distribution.
Internal Newsletters
Write and edit monthly and quarterly newsletters, gathering content through coordinating with department heads, interviewing subjects and investigating stories.
Liaise with designer.
Circulate drafts for approval.
Web Site
Write copy for Web site, including company and product descriptions and project case studies, and consult on content.
Circulate drafts for approval.
Archives
Maintain record of all of JM Eagle’s print advertisements, press releases, editorials and public acknowledgements.
Literature
Assist marketing communications manager and coordinator in identifying needs for corporate and product literature and execute their writing and production.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Superior writing and communications skills.Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English or public relations.Experience in writing press releases, feature stories and marketing copy with a strong element of technicality.Agency plus newspaper or magazine experience preferred.Knowledge of building products helpful.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Possess intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.Internet/Intranet experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to speak effectively before groups (employees or customers).
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
