SUMMARY:

This position will report to the Quality Assurance Manager in the Product Assurance department and will be located at the corporate office in Los Angeles.  This position will be responsible for the review of technical materials; investigation, resolution and record keeping of product claims; support for technical inquires; maintenance of product specifications, certification of products per third party listing agency requirements; facilitation of QA Plant Audit program; assistance with department projects and objectives;

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Other duties may be assigned.

• Coordinate with R&D, PA, Sales and Production to draft and review product related literature such as brochures, submittal sheets, installation guides, technical bulletins, and standard details
• Assist in the timely investigation, evaluation, and response to product quality and failure claims submitted by customers
• Upon request by PA Dept., conduct field investigations of customer complaints
• Maintain all claim files related to product complaints and claims in orderly manner.
• Coordinate with R&D and PA to update all internal product specifications (Product/Packaging/Purchasing) and disseminate this information to key Production personnel
• Respond to technical questions about products, applications, installation, specifications, etc. submitted by customers and internal/external sales
• Provide customers with verbal and/or written technical information on JM Eagle products and installation recommendations
• Participate in industry organizations and standard committees such as ASTM, AWWA, PPI, Uni-Bell etc. to advance JM Eagle interest and objectives
• Ensure that JM Eagle products are listed and certified by appropriate third party agencies such as NSF, UL, IAPMO, FM, CSA, etc.
• Facilitate the inspection and record keeping of the annual QA Plant Audit program
• Prepare monthly status reports on active PA Dept. projects
• Assist in preparation and communication of various PA Dept. documents
• Complete all projects in a timely and satisfactory manner, as assigned by the Product Assurance Manager
• Travel domestically up to 20% of the time.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position does not have any supervisory responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in engineering, material science, or chemistry from four-year accredited college school.  Civil Engineering degree preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in underground utility industry, industrial production, quality control.  Background with the production of thermoplastic pipe preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Must be proficient with MS Office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.  In addition, must have working knowledge of Adobe PDF documents and CAD software package.

LAGNUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex construction and contract documents.  Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.  Ability to clearly communicate technical related subject matters both written and oral.  Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to management.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.  Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.  Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graph, musical notes, etc.) in the most difficult phases.  Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Ability to review technical requirements from multiple sources and synthesize them into one set of company requirements: repots, specifications, procedures, etc.

The R&D Dept. work is divided among two primary work environments.  The noise level in the office environment (about 80% of time) is usually quiet, and the temperature is controlled.

The noise level in the production facility work environment (about 20% of the time) is usually high and requires hearing protection, and it usually requires eye protection.  The production work environment is subject to extremes of heat and cold depending upon the season, and may include direct exposure to the weather (outdoor environment).
