SUMMARY:

 

This position will report to the Quality Assurance Manager in the Product Assurance department and will be located at the corporate office in Los Angeles.  This position will be responsible for the review of technical materials; investigation, resolution and record keeping of product claims; support for technical inquires; maintenance of product specifications, certification of products per third party listing agency requirements; facilitation of QA Plant Audit program; assistance with department projects and objectives;

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position does not have any supervisory responsibility.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in engineering, material science, or chemistry from four-year accredited college school.  Civil Engineering degree preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in underground utility industry, industrial production, quality control.  Background with the production of thermoplastic pipe preferred.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Must be proficient with MS Office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.  In addition, must have working knowledge of Adobe PDF documents and CAD software package.

 

LAGNUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex construction and contract documents.  Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.  Ability to clearly communicate technical related subject matters both written and oral.  Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to management.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.  Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.  Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graph, musical notes, etc.) in the most difficult phases.  Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Ability to review technical requirements from multiple sources and synthesize them into one set of company requirements: repots, specifications, procedures, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, handle or feel; and to talk or to hear.  The employee frequently is required to sit.  The employee is frequently required to stand and to walk.  The employee is sometimes required to squat, kneel, or climb.  The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIROMENT:

The R&D Dept. work is divided among two primary work environments.  The noise level in the office environment (about 80% of time) is usually quiet, and the temperature is controlled.

 

The noise level in the production facility work environment (about 20% of the time) is usually high and requires hearing protection, and it usually requires eye protection.  The production work environment is subject to extremes of heat and cold depending upon the season, and may include direct exposure to the weather (outdoor environment).
