SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the following territories: GA and FL
 
The Area Sales Manager / Outside Sales is responsible for the overall successful management of 50-70 distributor accounts within a specific territory (GA and FL) or region. This includes developing new sales strategies to solicit new customers as well as increase sales of current distributors, subsequently meeting those targets on a monthly basis to ensure the success of the entire department is met. The Area Sales Manager / Outside Sales is also expected to collect all market information about pricing, competitor info, and recent market changes and report to VP of Sales and provide “A to Z” account management and relationship building role for distributors.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 
Achieve assigned monthly target. Must be familiar with the customers in his or her assigned territory. It is a plus that he or she knows the engineers, municipalities, and contractors as well. Must help inside sales secure new orders, and ensure the highest level of service possible, doing so under the guidance of the Company’s Sales Standard Operating Procedures. Develop necessary business through existing or new customers in assigned territory to ensure the Company has adequate market share in the area. Develop and maintain product knowledge of all the Company’s products by attending various technical training seminars offered and self-study. Responsible for sending samples, literature, testing data, and necessary documentation to the customers, as well as to local engineers and contractors. Initiate and follow through, with Product Assurance, resolution of any dispute that involves an order. Pricing for the products and negotiate effectively in order to maintain more margins for the company based on pricing authority given by President. Work closely with local engineers to gain spec’s which are favorable to JM Eagle product range. Visit assigned customers on regular basis (once a month or once every two months based on work load) to maintain a good relationship, with focus on creating loyalty and specifically building a longstanding relationship. Offer new ideas and opinions on how to improve any aspect of the Company through the proper channels. Work closely with the Production Department to ensure availability of product in the appropriate areas and meet their current demand based on orders’ schedule ship dates. Be available to work with customers in different time zones to take care of customers’ needs. Attend and actively participate in weekly Sales meetings. Assist the Credit Department with collection issues and resolve disputes with customer accounts. Always have a positive work attitude and desire to take on new responsibilities and challenges provided by the Supervisor. Take care of returns of goods requests coming from customers and get related department involved in the process and finalize paperwork and give a solution to customer.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum Bachelor Degree Required. Equivalent experience in sales, telemarketing or customer service could be acceptable. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required. Individual must have initiative and overall good working attitude.
 

COMPUTER SKILLS

Possess intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Internet/Intranet experience preferred.
 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents, such as sales reports and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups (employees or customers).
 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
