SUMMARY
The Director of Sales will manage the retail sales and marketing efforts to ensure established goals and objectives are accomplished by supervising, training and developing outside sales representatives and agents, as well as the department’s internal sales team; manage the sales effort to ensure volume and profit goals are achieved; and, analyze sales statistics gathered by staff to determine sales potential and inventory requirements expand customer base and monitor customer preferences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Create and execute sales strategies to ensure the Company’s products are properly positioned in the marketplace.
Manage sales activities to ensure planned volume mix, price, market share and sales targets are achieved.
Oversee the status of all distributors and coordinate the sales efforts between these distributors and sales department.
Monitor customer preferences to determine focus of sales efforts; develop new sales strategies to solicit new customer and increase sales of current distributors.
Oversee preparation of product pricing and special job/contract quotations to maximize sales and profitability.
Provide market analysis information and sales forecasts and coordinates with production scheduling to ensure product availability by providing monthly sales forecast updates.
Provide guidance for handling customer problems/complaints regarding sales and service by analyzing each situation and coordinating resolution with appropriate department(s); resolve problems/complaints that fall outside normal operations; initiates and approves action to bring resolution.
Submit sales plans and assess progress toward achieving planned sales levels.
Initiate changes and modifications in operational processes and procedures to increase sales; offer product improvement recommendations and contributes to acceptance and implementation as appropriate.
Travel to maintain relationships with key customer contacts, explain technical issues, learn of local markets, and develop new customer relationships.
Attend conferences and trade shows to collect information on sales trends and new opportunities in the national marketplace.
Perform other job-related duties as directed by senior management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales and Marketing, or related field and seven (7) years of strong sales management experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Possess intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as sales reports and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups (executives, employees, customers, and agents).
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to assist sales team with problem solving to maintain customer satisfaction and achieve sales goals. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
