System Mechanic
PA
- Positions reporting directly to this position: None
- POSITION OBJECTIVE:
To install, repair and maintain production equipment, buildings and facilities.
- QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school or equivalent experience.

- Electrical and mechanical experience, complete capability to read and produce drawings, knowledge of electrical codes and use shop math.
- 3+ years experience in maintenance repairs.
- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Task and Duties:
- Installs, set-up and maintains most mechanical equipment as directed
- Installs, operates, maintains, tests and locates trouble on most types of AC equipment. Including lubrication and periodic servicing.
- Possesses a working knowledge of mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Some knowledge of electrical codes.
- Works on equipment independently as the situation requires.
- Determines when parts need replacement and repairs are necessary.
- Stops, starts, maintain and helps install plant utilities and production equipment.
- Dismantles and reassembles electrical motors and allied equipment. Repairs, replaces, clean, and paint parts.
- Skilled in the uses of electrical testing equipment commonly used in an industrial plant, such as ammeters and voltmeters.
- Possesses a working knowledge of the following equipment:
- Arc and Gas welding equipment.
- Power tools such as the drill press, cut-off saw and portable power tools.
- Hand tools and testing equipment of both electrical and mechanical trades.
- Hoisting equipment
- Posses the necessary tools of the trade.
- Works with personnel of higher classification to obtain knowledge of plants electrical distribution system and power requirements on occasion. Knows company rules and complies with them.
- Assists the Maintenance Leader and/or the Electro-Mech Tech when necessary.
- Operates mobile and hoisting equipment as necessary.
- Fills out records when required.
- Performs miscellaneous jobs as directed.
Physical/Visual Activities Required/Work Environmental Conditions:
- Have adequate sight, hearings and use of limbs to safely operate powered vehicles. (For example: forklifts, sweepers, cars, and pickups.
- Sight capabilities to distinguish warning and operational indicators.
- Hearing capabilities difference in warning alarm indicators and standard operation indicators.
- Sight capabilities to identify accuracy and neatness of required job assignments.
- Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling capabilities to handle job requirements such as operating, cleaning and repair of equipment.
- Balancing to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching or climbing in all areas.
- Ability to verbally communicate with other fellow employees to accomplish all assigned job requirements.
- See and understand all written communication.
- Lift up to 70 pounds and carry up to 30 feet.
- Ability to climb a 50-foot ladder.
- Ability to work in a confined area.
- AUTHORITY/DECISION MAKING:
Works under J-M policy and procedures on day-to-day basis. Makes decisions on matters related to maintenance of equipment. Works under the supervision provided by Production Superintendent/Plant Manager.
