Procurement Engineer
CA - Los Angeles
DUTIES:
- Purchase mechanical equipment, tools, parts for the expansion and improvement projects of J-M Eagle’s plastic pipe plants.
- Achieve cost savings through vendor selection and parts review. Establish efficient and cost-effective integrated procurement process.
- Review mechanical drawings and manuals. Discuss with domestic and foreign (China) vendors/suppliers about specifications, criteria and replacement of mechanical parts.
- Clarify any issues with suppliers/vendors such as machine process, dimensions and tolerance.
- Review and evaluate bid and quotations. Analyze and evaluate price/cost, specifications and manufacturing limitations.
- Review ROP (re-order point) and EOQ (economic order quantity) periodically. Utilize engineering knowledge to make changes on these two parameters based on spare parts usage and equipment design.
- Coordinate with Production Engineers to improve the machine standardization, parts replacement/substitution and equipment efficiency.
- Inspect performance of machinery, equipment, and tools. Investigate and initiate corrective action of problems and deficiencies.
- Establish and maintain vendor databases and administer assigned categories and product codes. Perform vendor management and control.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or its related fields
- At least one year experience in the job offered or in the related occupation as Mechanical Engineer
SPECIFIC SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Prior experience must include:
- Prior experience must include:
- Machine process, dimension and tolerance
- Quality assurance and control systems methodologies
- Computer aided design software: AutoCAD and Solidworks.
- Must be familiar with:
- International industrial standards: GB, ISO, ANSI, ASTM, UL
- OSHA Occupational Safety and Health Act of China, US, and Canada
- Ability to read blueprint for both first/third projection, and read hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
