Job Description
 
Title:                      Electro – Mechanic C
Reports                  Electro-Mech Tech / Maintenance Supervisor
Department:          Electrical / Maintenance
 
  1.  Positions reporting directly to this position:  none
 
  1. Position Objective:  To install, repair and maintain production equipment, buildings and facilities.
 
  1. Qualifications:   High school diploma or G.E.D equivalent preferred.  Some electrical and mechanical experience, shop match, read mechanical and some elementary electrical drawings.  2+ years experience in maintenance repairs.
 
  1. Duties and Responsibilities:    Tasks and Duties
  1.  Installs, sets up and maintains most mechanical and electrical equipment as directed.
  2. Installs, operates, maintains, tests and locates trouble on most types of AC equipment.  Knows how and does perform lubrication and periodic servicing of all types of equipment.
  3. Reads mechanical and some electrical drawings.
  4. Diagnoses and employs the proper procedures for the relief of trouble on occasion.
  5. Works on equipment with some help as the situation arises.
  6. Determines when parts need replacement and repairs are necessary.
  7. Works with personnel of higher classification to obtain additional knowledge of plant’s electrical distribution system and power requirements on occasion.  Knows company rules and complies with them.
  8. Starts, stops, maintain and helps install plant utilities and production equipment.
  9. Dismantles and assembles and helps on most electrical motors and allied equipment.  Repairs, replaces, clean parts.
  10. Uses (and is moderately skilled in) electrical testing equipment commonly used in an industrial plant, such as ammeters and boltmeters.
  11. Uses the following equipment with limited supervision.
  1.  Arc and gas welding and cutting equipment
  2. Power tools such as drill press, cut off saw and portable power tools
  3. Hand tools of the mechanical and electrical trades
  4. Hoisting equipment.
  1. Possesses the necessary tools of the trade
  2. Assists the maintenance Leader and / or the Electro-Mech Tech, Electro-Mech A or B when necessary.
  3. Operates mobile and hoisting equipment as necessary
  4. Works in any phase of the Plastic operation as directed
  5. Fills out records when required
  6. Performs other miscellaneous job as directed.
 
  1.  Authority/Decision Making: Works under JM Eagle policy and procedures on a day-to-day basis.  Works under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor.
 
  1.  Physical/Visual Requirements/Work Environmental Conditions:
 
  1. Have adequate sight, hearing and use of limbs to safely operate all powered vehicles, IE forklifts, sweepers, cars, pickups.
  2. Sight capabilities to distinguish warning and operational indicators.
  3. Hearing capabilities to distinguish differences in warning alarm indicates and standard operation indicators.
  4. Sight capabilities to identify accuracy and neatness of required job assignments.
  5. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling capabilities to handle job requirements such as operating, cleaning and repair of equipment.
  6. Balancing to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching or climbing in all areas.
  7. Ability to verbally communicate either face to face or via telephone with other fellow employees to accomplish all assigned job requirements.
  8. Hear and understand all verbal communication whether it be face to face or via telephone.
  9. See and understand all written communication.
  10. Lift up 70 pounds and carry up to 30 feet.
  11. Push and pull up to 2500 pounds up to 30 feet with the aid of material handling equipment or portable pallet jack.
  12. Walking through, under and around equipment with a clearance of 30 inches.
  13. Ability to feel objects, textures, size and shape and to determine temperature by touching of skin, primarily by that of finger tips.
  14. Ability to grasp tools (manual as well as powered) and use them in accordance with a safe working manner so as not to injure oneself or fellow employees.
  15. Sight capability to safely operate at arm’s length machinery and power and or hand tools needed to accomplish the requirements of the job assignments for this position.
