Title:                      Maintenance Supervisor (Manager)
Reports                   Plant Manager
Department:           Electrical / Maintenance
 
  1.  Positions reporting directly to this position:  Mechanics & Electricians
 
  1. Position Objective:  To install, repair and maintain production equipment, buildings and facilities.
 
 
  1. Qualifications:   High school diploma or G.E.D equivalent preferred.  Electro-Mech. Techs are selected on the basis of their technical training, past performance and indicated characteristic of leadership and responsibilities.  Complete electrical & mechanical experience, complete capability to read and make complex mechanical drawings & writing diagrams.  5+ years experience in maintenance repairs.
 
  1. Duties and Responsibilities:    Tasks and Duties
  1. Works under the direction of the Plant manager in staffing, planning, scheduling, training and supervising, manage machines and materials in the department in order to secure the maximum effiency of all plant equipment.
  2. establish and maintain good working relationships with employees.
  3. Plans and schedules work cooperation with production.
  4. Determines spare parts and maintain inventories as required.  Initiates orders for same.
  5. Implements installation of new equipment and facilities per A/R’s.
  6. Cooperates with other departments to implement company programs such as cost reduction, fire prevention, housekeeping, safety, energy conservation, environmental control, etc..
  7. Advises plant engineer of maintenance  problems and recommends action.
  8. Provides accurate reports for labor usage and usage of maintenance  repair material.
  9. Supervises and schedules necessary repairs to equipment, building and facilities including replacement or rebuilding of parts.
  10. Plans and implements a preventive maintenance program for assigned areas.
  11. Reviews progress and completion of work performed by subordinates in the department.
  12. Makes complex wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings and sketches.
  13. Reads and makes proper electrical installation from blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  14. Possess general knowledge of plant electrical distribution system and power requirements.
  15. Works with E & R crew to do work on production machines when required.
  16. Teaches, advocates and uses safe working practices and reports hazardous conditions at all times.
  17. Keep E & R crew to do work on production machines when required.
  18. Instructs and follow up the activities of inexperienced employees.
  19. Fills out records as required.
  20. Performs other related duties as required.
  1.  Authority/Decision Making: Works under JM Eagle policy and procedures on a day-to-day basis.  Works under the supervision of the Plant Manager.
 
  1.  Physical/Visual Requirements/Work Environmental Conditions:
 
  1. Have adequate sight, hearing and use of limbs to safely operate all powered vehicles, IE forklifts, sweepers, cars, pickups.
  2. Sight capabilities to distinguish warning and operational indicators.
  3. Hearing capabilities to distinguish differences in warning alarm indicates and standard operation indicators.
  4. Sight capabilities to identify accuracy and neatness of required job assignments.
  5. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling capabilities to handle job requirements such as operating, cleaning and repair of equipment.
  6. Balancing to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching or climbing in all areas.
  7. Ability to verbally communicate either face to face or via telephone with other fellow employees to accomplish all assigned job requirements.
  8. Hear and understand all verbal communication whether it be face to face or via telephone.
  9. See and understand all written communication.
  10. Lift up 70 pounds and carry up to 30 feet.
  11. Push and pull up to 2500 pounds up to 30 feet with the aid of material handling equipment or portable pallet jack.
  12. Walking through, under and around equipment with a clearance of 30 inches.
  13. Ability to feel objects, textures, size and shape and to determine temperature by touching of skin, primarily by that of finger tips.
  14. Ability to grasp tools (manual as well as powered) and use them in accordance with a safe working manner so as not to injure oneself or fellow employees.
  15. Sight capability to safely operate at arm’s length machinery and power and or hand tools needed to accomplish the requirements of the job assignments for this position.
