SUMMARY
 
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, purchasing, development and improvement of the production processes and equipment through the Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma Concepts.  The Mechanical Engineer manages the expansion and capital investment projects.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
 
  1. Develop new product and new processes.
  1. Handle project management of the new product developments.
  2. Coordinate the new product survey to help making decision on the new product direction and models.
  3. Develop the new door model through the CAD drawing design.
  4. Work with plant and mold manufacturer to test the molds.
  5. Perform the new material trial and test for new product development.
  6. Conduct the new mold purchasing and manage the suppliers’ project schedules.
  7. Coordinate the required tests and certifications to get the new products ready for sales.
  1. Improvement Functions:
  1. Manufacturing Process Improvements
  2. Cost Down Improvements.
  3. Manufacturing Cost Analysis and Improvement.
  4. Development of new material that reduces costs and improves manufacturing processes.
  1. Quality Improvement through new product design/process improvements.
  1. Perform the quality problem study.
  2. Coordinate the tests to improve or certify the products.
  3. Develop new manufacturing processes, new material, or new structure to improve the quality.
  4. Help QC system implementation.
  1. Expansion and other major projects management.
  1. Plant layout design.
  2. New equipment layout.
  3. Capital investment projects review and analysis.
  4. Propose new capital investment projects.
  1. Equipment Design/Purchasing and Major Modifications.
  1. Design and development of production equipment.
  2. Create budgets for new equipment and modifications.
  3. Supplier survey.
  4. Get quotations and price comparisons.
  5. Issue P.R. and P.O.
  6. Follow-up on project progresses.
  7. Test run arrangement.
  8. Transit the new equipment from start-up to regular production.
  1. Other special assignments and supports:
  1. Support R&D in the area of manufacturing equipment and tools.
  2. Helping new PU and PUR formulation survey/testing.
  3. R&D tax credit.
  4. Insurance.
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervising the engineering related personnel and projects including HQ and plants.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
 
COMPUTER SKILLS
AUTOCAD, Microsoft Office and Project
 
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret design drawings and documents (such as safety rules, operating procedures, maintenance instructions and procedure manuals).  Ability to write technical reports, analyze data, identify trends and develop action plans to address issues.
 
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Abilities to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
