Management Trainee - Production
CA - Los Angeles
SUMMARY
Gain knowledge and experience required to qualify for management positions within the organization under direction of first-line supervisors to top executives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Receive training and perform duties in assigned department(s) such as:
- Provide coordination for production process and scheduling between the Corporate Production department and Plant locations and Sales department.
- Maintain the Production system; ensure required materials / supplies are provided.
- Generate, review and distribute production reports; provide ad hoc reports when requested.
- Review production schedule with Sales department and Plants; assist in resolving scheduling conflicts. Notify Sales department of production delays when necessary.
- Support quality assurance objectives by coordinating with Research and Development, Product Assurance, Sales and Production departments to draft and review product related literature such as brochures, submittal sheets, installation guides, technical bulletins, and standard details.
- Respond to technical questions about products, applications, installations, specifications, etc. submitted by customers and internal / external sales.
- Assist in the timely investigation, evaluation and response to product quality and failure claims submitted by customers; maintain records of product claims.
- Facilitate the inspection and recordkeeping of the annual QA Plant Audit Program.
- Prepare monthly status reports on action PA department projects.
- Assist the Production Manager to ensure the effective operation of Plants, including production methods and procedures, inventory management, costs and cost allocations, employee relations, safety and environmental standards, and working conditions.
- Learn line and staff functions, operations, management viewpoints and company policies and practices that affect organizational goals and objectives.
- Observe experienced staff and gain knowledge of procedures, methods and standards that are required for performing departmental duties.
- Work with other managers to plan and direct the work of the assigned department.
- Receive instruction in subjects related to their rotational experience.
- Attend periodic evaluations and achieve a passing score in all areas of the training program.
- Participate with management in interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
- Identify trends and recommends proactive or remedial action to manage business situations.
- Work with and through management to develop and implement actions that protect company assets and profitability.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Engineering, Finance, Information Systems, Law, Marketing, Sociology, Psychology, or designated field of concentration in the humanities, life sciences, physical sciences or social sciences.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Possess intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), internet/Intranet experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Abilities to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
