I.             Position(s) reporting directly to this position: None
 
  1. POSITION OBJECTIVE:   Brief statement of why position exists.
 
  1. To fabricate, weld, repair, and maintain production equipment, projects, buildings and facilities as required.
 
  1. QUALIFICATIONS:  Describe education and experience needed to perform the above.
Personnel will confirm.
 
Preferably high school diploma or G.E.D. or equivalent experience.  Experience with use of arc welder, gas welder, and various types of weld.
 
2+ years experience in maintenance repairs.
 
  1. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Refer to 5 forms for complete description of duties, physical and visual requirements.
 
  1. TASKS & DUTIES
 
Works with others and occasion to complete various maintenance construction jobs.  Must be obtaining skills to work independently on many maintenance and some electrical jobs in the plant.
 
  1. Size steel plate, tubing, I-beam, angle iron, etc. for required job.
  2. Transport steel from storage area to welding area and place for job required.
  3. Make saw and acetylene cuts as required, prior to the initial assembly.
  4. Grind and finish all cuts as required, prior to the initial assembly.
  5. Use crane, chains and/or steel wire ropes to lift heavy metals into place for final assembly for large projects.
  6. Clamp smaller parts into place for smaller projects.
  7. Select the proper size and type of welding rod to be used for type and thickness of metal used.
  8. Make all types of welding passes, i.e., overhead, horizontal, vertical, etc.
  9. Have OSHA approved welding hood, glove leathers, etc.
  10. Have basic hand tools for welding and fabricating.
  11. Use arc of mig type welding machines and know settings for all metals to be welded.
  12. Change out acetylene and oxygen bottles on torch carts.
  13. Other duties when assigned by maintenance lead man or maintenance supervisor.
 
 
 
 Above-prescribed duties are set forth as “bench marks” for evaluation of this job.  They are representative of the normal work performed and do not constitute the complete requirements of the job.
 
  1. Physical/Visual Activities Required/Work Environmental Conditions
 
1.     Have adequate sight, hearing and use of limbs to safely operate all
powered vehicles; i.e., forklifts, sweepers, cars, pickups.
  1. Sight capabilities to distinguish warning and operational indicators.
  2. Hearing capabilities to distinguish differences in warning alarm indicators and standard operation indicators.
  3. Sight capabilities to identify accuracy and neatness of required job assignments.
  4. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling capabilities to handle job requirements such as operating, cleaning and repair of equipment.
  5. Balancing to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching or climbing in all areas.
  6. Ability to verbally communicate either face to face or via telephone with other fellow employees to accomplish all assigned job requirements.
  7. Hear and understand all verbal communication whether it is face to face or via telephone.
  8. See and understand all written communication.
  9. Lift up to 70 pounds and carry up to 30 feet.
  10. Push and pull up to 2500 pounds up to 30 feet with the aid of material handling equipment or portable pallet jack.
  11. Walking through, under and around equipment with a clearance of 30 inches.
  12. Ability to feel objects, textures, size and shape and to determine temperature by touching of skin, primarily by that of finger tips.
  13. Ability to grasp tools (manual as well as powered) and use them in accordance with a safe working manner so as not to injure oneself or fellow employees.
  14. Sight capability to safely operate at arm’s length machinery and power and or hand tools needed to accomplish the requirement of the job assignments for this position.
 
AUTHORITY/DECISION MAKING: - Works under JM Eagle policy and procedures on a day-to-day basis.  Works under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Leadman.
