SUMMARY

 
The individual serving in the position of Irrigation/Plumbing Sales Manager will ensure that the goals and objectives of the Electrical Department are accomplished by supervising, training, and developing outside representatives and agents, as well as the department’s internal sales team.  This includes developing new sales strategies to solicit new customers as well as to increase sales of current distributors, subsequently meeting those targets on a monthly basis to ensure the success of the entire department is met. This position is also expected to collect all market information about pricing, competitor info and recent market changes to report to the VP of Electrical Sales.  Such demonstrated leadership will ensure that the team meets and exceeds customer expectations in the sales, processing and shipment of JM Eagle Electrical products.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (includes the following; other duties may be assigned)

 
  1. Support the VP of Electrical Sales in leading and managing the internal and external teams serving the Irrigation/Plumbing Department. 
 
  1. Assures the planned volume, mix, price and market share are achieved by managing daily sales activities. 
 
  1. Responsible for target achievement of the Department as well as ensuring profitability of such volume.
 
  1. Hires, trains and develops an efficient sales force of company employees and independent representative agencies and ensures they are representing JM Eagle professionally and positively.
 
  1. Oversees the status of all distributors and coordinates the sales efforts between these distributors and sales.
 
  1. Creates and executes sales strategies to ensure the Company’s products are positioned properly in the marketplace.
 
  1. Maximizes sales and profitability by preparing and supervising all product pricing and special job or contract quotations, and provides proper follow-up to ensuring company best interest.
 
  1. Travels to visit, develop, and maintain relationships with key customer contacts such as Company owner, Vice Presidents, District Managers, Branch Managers and Purchasing Agents of customer companies, in addition to understanding the end users in the market.
 
  1. Provides market analysis information and sales forecasts for electrical and fittings product, and coordinates with production scheduling to ensure product availability by providing monthly sales forecast and updates.
 
  1. Assures that proper communications are achieved with other sales departments and other appropriate divisions or department heads.
 
  1. Monitors inventory levels and open orders, determines course of action to assure timely delivery of products to distribution channels. Organizes and attends Sales/Production meetings to ensure the appropriate products are offered to achieve the sales target.
 
  1. Submits monthly, quarterly, and annual sales plan to SVP of PE, Electrical, Solvent Weld & Retail Sales and assess progress toward achieving planned sales levels.  Outlines necessary strategies and supports needed to achieve sales target.
 
  1. Offers new ideas and implementations on how to improve any aspect of the company through the proper channels.
 
  1. Attends Electrical conferences and trade shows to collect information on trends or new opportunities that may be occurring in the national marketplace.
 
  1. Provides input and recommendations for new and improved products and contributes to their acceptance in the market place.
 
  1. Provides direction for handling cases of customer complaints and problems by analyzing each situation and coordinating their resolution with other departments.
 
  1. The Sales Manager shall not disclose to anyone-inside or outside the Company-any Confidential Information. “Confidential Information” shall include any of the Company’s proprietary or trade secret information that is disclosed to the Sales Manager, or that Sales Manager otherwise learns of in the course of employment, such as, but not limited to business plans, customer lists, customer information, internal pricing information, financial statements, software diagrams or documentation, flow charts or other product plans.
 
  1. Always have a positive work attitude and the desire to take on new responsibilities and challenges that are presented to them by supervisors.
 
  1. Monitors accounts receivable and deductions and supports the credit department in collections by reviewing account credit status and participates in resolving credit issues.
 
  1. Assures strong customer relations with distributors to maximize JM Eagle’s business opportunities.
 
  1. Act as a liaison between outside sales representatives and all other company departments and divisions, including; Credit, QA, Technical, Production, Transportation, Accounting, Marketing, and other sales divisions.
 
  1. Resolves customer problems and/or complaints that fall outside normal operations and initiates and approve appropriate action to resolve problems.
 
  1. Initiates changes and modifications in procedures in order to increase sales.
 
  1. Must have knowledge of complete JM Eagle product line.
 
  1. Travel up to 50%.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

College degree required and/or equivalent in sales experience including a minimum of three (3) years of experience or greater with a major manufacturing company.  Sales management experience in the industry is a must.  Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required.  Individual must have initiative and overall good working attitude.
 

COMPUTER SKILLS

Possess intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 
 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents, such as sales reports and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to present effectively before groups (executives, customers, and agents).
 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. 
 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to assist the Sales team with problem solving in order to maintain customer satisfaction and ultimately to achieve sales goals. Conducts meetings and intervenes in the department to facilitate cohesion within the group. The incumbent must exercise judgment in the allocation of product to customers.  The incumbent handles daily management responsibilities and overall team building activities.
