  1. POSITION OBJECTIVE: Brief statement of why position exists.
 
To install, repair and maintain production equipment, buildings and facilities.
 
  1. QUALIFICATIONS: Describe education and experience needed to perform the above.
 
Preferably high school or equivalent experience.  Must be able to pass any applicable competency tests required for this position.
 
Electrical and mechanical experience; complete capability to read and make mechanical and electrical drawings.  Good knowledge of electrical codes.
 
4+ years experience in maintenance repairs.
 
  1. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  1. Tasks and Duties
 
  1. Install, set up, and maintain mechanical equipment as directed.
  2. Install, operate, maintain, test, and locate trouble on all types of AC and DC equipment, including lubrication and periodic servicing.
  3. Prepare work orders and submit issue tickets for parts used.
  4. Use proper lockout and/or tagout procedures, as the job requires.
  5. Possess a good working knowledge of mechanical and electrical drawings.
  6. Diagnose and employ the proper procedures for the relief of trouble.
  7. Work on equipment independently as the situation requires.
  8. Determine when parts need replacement and repairs are necessary.
  9. Possess and use knowledge of plant electrical distribution system and power requirements.
  10. Start, stop, maintain, and help install plant utilities and production equipment.
  11. Dismantle and assemble electrical motors and allied equipment.  Repair, replace, clean, and paint parts.
 
  1. Use working knowledge of the following equipment to complete tasks:
    1. Arc and gas welding and cutting equipment.
    2. Power tools such as drill press, cut-off saw, and portable power tools.
    3. Hand tools of the mechanical and electrical trades
    4. Hoisting equipment.
  2. Use knowledge electrical testing equipment commonly used in an industrial plant, such as ammeters and voltmeters.
  3. Use working knowledge of electrical codes.
  4. Use working knowledge of programmable controllers.
  5. Operate mobile and hoisting equipment as necessary.
  6. Assist Electro Mechanic Technician and Maintenance Supervisor when required.
  7. Perform other job-related duties as directed.

  1. Physical and Visual Activities Required / Work Environmental Conditions
 
  1. Have adequate sight, hearing, and use of limbs to safely operate all powered vehicles.  (i.e., forklifts, sweepers, car and pickups).
  2. Sight capabilities to distinguish proper product identification as well as warning and operational indicators.
  3. Hearing capabilities to distinguish differences in warning alarm indicators and standard operation indicators.
  4. Sight capabilities to identifying accuracy and neatness of required job assignments.
  5. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling capabilities to handle job requirements such as operating, cleaning, or mixing equipment.
  6. Balancing to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching in all areas due to limited direct supervision and/or observation.
  7. Ability to verbally communicate either face to face or via telephone with other employees to accomplish all assigned job requirements.
  8. Hear clearly and understand verbal communication whether it is face to face or via telephone.
  9. Climb and descend all ladders or steps (whether fixed or portable) on company facilities in order to access all areas if needed.
  10. See and understand written communication.
  11. Ability to confirm by sight quality level of raw materials and products produced to determine acceptance and/or denial of each.
  12. Ability to use caution when lifting or handling objects or equipment to remain within the recommended weight limit of fifty (50) pounds, and get assistance if material is over fifty (50) pounds.
  13. Walking through, under and around equipment with a clearance of thirty (30) inches.
  14. Ability to activate and use telephones, calculators and personal computers as required in assigned job duties.
  15. Ability to feel objects, textures, size, and shapes and determine temperature by touching of skin, primarily that of finger tips.
  16. Ability to grasp tools (both manual and powered) and use them in a safe manner working manner to avoid injury to self or fellow employees.
 
  1. Authority / Decision Making. State closeness of supervision, control by policy or procedure, direction of others.
