Maintenance Superintendent
(PHA) Hastings, NE
Summary
Manages and coordinates activities of workers engaged in maintaining and repairing physical structures of buildings, equipment and grounds to keep plant running at maximum potential by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned by the Plant Manager as needed.
- Follow and enforce all plant polices, and where appropriate, assist management in the development of new policies and procedures.
- Maintain contact and be available for emergency communications at all times with the facility.
- Ensure that adequate parts inventory stock levels are maintained.
- Ensure that units/parts that are removed from service are repaired or rebuilt in a timely manner.
- Ensure that employees maintain their designated work spaces in a clean and safe manner.
- Ensure that maintenance personnel are cleaning the areas where they perform maintenance activities and are properly returning company tools to the designated places for such tools.
- Ensure that workers are returning unused parts and/or supplies to the designated places and that any parts which are deemed permanently defective are disposed of in a proper manner.
- Ensure that any parts that are repairable or have the ability to be rebuilt are tagged and placed in a designated area, any materials for rebuild are acquired and rebuilt in a timely manner as possible.
- Scheduling of maintenance personnel to provide for adequate coverage of the facility and equipment.
- Maintain control of overtime for the department.
- Able to plan job activity such as preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, emergency repair, project work, corrective maintenance, and overhaul of defective or worn equipment by use of a computerized maintenance management system.
- Manage and coordinate improvement projects. Responsible to maintain timelines and communicate with HQ engineering
- Ensure the quality and completeness of all maintenance work performed by department personnel
- Provide support to all production activity, as appropriate. Activities include root cause analysis, response to repeating problems affecting plant performance.
- Maintain a knowledge of essential plant systems, including electrical, compressed air, vacuum, chilled water, reuse water, blending, and grinding, in order to support and improve plant operations. "Systems" also includes an understanding of how the systems interrelate with production processes.

Directly supervises employees in the Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training new employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of Database, Spreadsheet and Word Processing software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
~Must posses or be able to obtain a Forklift Training Certificate.
~Must have a valid Driver's License.
