SUMMARY
 
The Assistant Controller supervises, evaluates and improves the functions of the Accounting Department including Accounts Payable, General Accounting and Cost Accounting to ensure that goals and objectives are met.  This position guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
  SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will supervise Accounting staff at the headquarters location.
 
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of experience (including 4 years supervising staff) in Accounting management or a closely related position or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

COMPUTER SKILLS
Possess intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), internet/Intranet experience. Knowledge of AS400 system.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and analyze Accounting documents including general ledgers and financial statements. Ability to write correspondence and procedures. Ability to speak effectively before groups (including employees and vendors).

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as production rates, discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to work with measurements. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form. Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to use broad judgment in the day to day supervision of designated staff.
