SUMMARY
Largest pipe manufacturer in the US is looking for a reliable Driver / Loader who can deliver PVC pipe and related products with a Commercial Motor Vehicle!! Assures that the load is safe and that the product is delivered to the customer in a timely manner. Delivers excellent customer service and assists in the Shipping department as needed. May load and unload trucks and perform other shipping/receiving duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Ability to safely drive a Commercial Motor Vehicle.
Inspects truck before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition.
Services truck with oil, fuel, radiator fluid etc. to maintain tractor-trailer.
Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.
Reads bill of lading to determine assignment Loads or unloads, or assists in loading and unloading truck.
Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers. Inventories and inspects goods to be moved.
Fastens straps, chain or binders to secure load on trailer during transit.
Drives tractor-trailer combination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations, to transport and deliver products or materials.
Maneuvers truck into loading or unloading position, following signals from loading crew as needed.
Drive trucks to weigh station before and after loading, and along route to document weight and conform to state regulations.
Maintains vehicle and driver log.
Comply with Federal and State Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
Obey traffic laws, and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
Read maps, and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
Obtains customer's signature for deliveries and pick-up
Reports delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
Works as team member to support plant Shipping/Receiving.
Maintains good housekeeping program at all times.
Maintains efficient use of warehouse and storage facilities.
Teaches, advocates and uses safe working practices and reports hazardous conditions at all times.
Has thorough knowledge of all operations and equipments as well as the various types and sizes of plastic pipe products.
Safely operates forklifts to move pipe and materials to and from the production areas, pad, scales and warehouse, and to load and unload trucks
Following and promoting company safety rules and policies and following accepted safe work practices..
Affix shipping labels or stencil shipping information on cartons and containers.
Assembles wooden or cardboard containers.
Inserts items into containers for damage free shipments.
Use hand tools such as hammers or banders to secure boxes or containers for shipment.
Unpacks and examines incoming shipments.
Rejects damaged goods, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
Examines outgoing goods to ensure shipments meet specifications.
Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies, and organizes these materials in a warehouse.
Is competent concerning load construction including multi-stop loads.
Performs daily checks on forklifts to assure that they are in safe working order.
Attends required training sessions and wears the required safety equipment such as hearing protection, safety glasses, and other safety equipment that might be required for certain jobs or tasks.
Be responsible for training and direction of temporary workers and new hires.
Is willing to learn new tasks and take on individual responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (Class A/B is dependent on CMV to be operated)

Must be qualified to drive a Commercial Motor Vehicle (more than 10,000 GVWR) under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations 391.41, and meet all required D.O.T regulations to drive a Commercial Motor Vehicle.
Must be a minimum of 21 years old to drive commercial vehicles interstate.
Must be a minimum of 18 years old to drive commercial vehicles intrastate.
Must possess only one commercial driver’s license.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or G.E.D or equivalent., 3-5 years’ experience in commercial driving operations. Experience driving Tractor/trailer combinations including flat bed trailers and double trailers. Know how to properly and safely load, block, brace and secure cargo.
